The Color of Northern Stillness
Far north of the Arctic Circle, in Lofoten, I work surrounded by a landscape where silence has weight, and light has its own language.
Here, mountains rise straight from the sea, storms arrive without warning, and the air carries a clarity that shifts everything — including the way I paint.
In this place, we have restored a small farm and built an 80 m² studio in the old barn. The stillness here is not empty; it vibrates. It settles into the body, heightens the senses, and becomes part of the process. The colors I choose, the gestures I make, the layers I build — all are shaped by the quiet intensity of the North.
The Color of Northern Stillness is the foundation for the works created here in 2025. These paintings reflect the slow rhythms, the deep silence, and the unexpected bursts of color that exist only in this environment. They are conversations with light, with nature, and with the inner landscapes that grow when everything else becomes quiet.
Through these pieces, I invite you into the stillness that shapes my days — a stillness filled with presence, awe, and the raw beauty of the North.
